Building a veggie filter : Part I

I don't know if veggie filter is an official name. Some sites called this Bog Filter. So what is veggie or bog filter? I am not going to explain but you can check this out http://garden-pond-filters.com/veggiebio.htm I have a little pond which I need to clean up the filter every one to two weeks. This is a boring work and not very environmental friendly because I have to use lot of water to wash the filter media. After searching the web, I found people use this filter on their pond. (here is one that I really love http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/43346868XpvJzF ) I wish I can spend a week to make this filter and save me millions of hours in the future to keep cleanning up filter.

Part I of my veggie filter :
1. Cutting hole and putting pvc pipe together

2. Fill up the first layer with bio-ball

3. Get ready for the next layer.

4. Another view of the veggie filter

5. Water Test!!

Next week, I need to work on the water pump
